Art as a way of life.

My practice as a photographer covers a lot of different themes, but it’s unifying element is a commitment to conveying essence.

If it is a person who would like a portrait that represents their depth or their luminosity I am present to go on a photographic journey to find and convey that. If it is a landscape, I stay awhile, and sit quietly, learning its seasons and moods, so I can share some of its medicine and magic. If it is someone’s project, I try and learn as much as I can about it, so I may make a set of photos that help the project flourish.

I am based on Salt Spring Island, British Columbua, but I travel internationally for work and am available for projects anywhere. I have lived and worked in 18 countries, and am very adept at life on the road. Please be in touch if you would like to see me in your neighborhood.

When I was a child I loved a song by Ann Mortifee. The lyrics went ‘Every door is a magic door, hiding something. Every door is a magic door, leading somwhere. To open the door, just lift up the latch, but once you go through you may never come back, once you go through you may never come back, for that is the way of the spell. That is the way of the spell.’

Poetry was that door for me.
